I read that George Lucas had received some negative press because of the lack of nonwhites in the Star Wars films. Perhaps the KKK are right and the universe is designed for Caucasians, but let's hope not. In retaliation, Lucas said he is going to cast a Native American and an Asian in Star Wars Episode 2, which sounds good until he says the Native American will be spiritual and the Asian will be a martial arts expert. Is there no escaping the stereotyping?! How many times do we see the Native American as a spiritual guide, I respect their tradition and beliefs and like to see them used it films, but they can be more than one dimension to their character. And must Asians always be fighters? I even find it derogatory to represent all the countries Asia by one person. It reminds me of Star Trek (original series) where the flight deck was multicultural, but the rest of the crew was American., Anyway, back to All about my Mother.
