An improbable jag via screenwriter Norman Wexler from Saturday Night Fever (1977). He got some help from Gary DeVore in adapting a story by Luciano Vincenzoni and Sergio Donati. Directed by John Irvin whose CV is littered with dreck like this with the singular redeeming exception of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (1979). Ill-advised Arnie completism.
Arnie is tasked with cleaning up the Chicago mob. The setup makes a minimal amount of sense but soon enough the filmmakers fumble the plot. It has no redeeming features.
Roger Ebert: one-and-a-half stars, presumably because he could laugh at the Chicago settings. Vincent Canby: Arnie is the thinking kid's Stallone.
